Summary: Stupidest Loading Cartridge Ever!
Comment: Can't believe it will move the cartridge while cartridge clamp & cover is open. Almost broke itself!

Summary: Great Printer!
Comment: This printer is excellent. My father died and I used the printer
to print photos for an album. The pictures came out perfect. I have found this to be an excellent printer for everything.

Summary: Was a good printer in its day, but a $300 tag by sellers NOW?? WHY?
Comment: This was one of my faves but coincidentally, just after the warranty expired, all three printer cartridge holders (plastic holders where one snapped the cartridge in) broke off completely rendering the printer useless. But boy, it was a great printer while it lasted -- which, in my case seemed all too short and highly disappointing! Equally disappointing are the current ads for sale of this printer... Shame on the people/business today, STILL selling (or trying to sell) this printer for $299.00 and over $300! HP discontinued this model LONG AGO and by today's comparisons, does not print anywhere near as fast nor uses the Vivera inks that the newer models of today do -- although the prints would be very nice looking, nonetheless. Unfortunately, this printer does not have the photo gray option either.

I am only writing this b/c I happened to see this model printer here and was surprised to see it still for sale. Being as attached to this printer that I was, I had a fleeting thought to purchase another, though I was more curious in the current sales. I don't need another printer now... Then I saw the steep pricing and felt that is just way out of line and is my feeling this printer should not sell for over $65!! Man! The three-hundred dollar range is what it sold for originally and has by far been surpassed with better quality, making these prices now - unjustified! This printer cannot possibly command a same value this late in time and is ludicrous to ask for that. Additionally, I gave only 3 stars b/c of the cartridge holders, given that all three broke at once! How odd, but now I see that others had that happen as well, and was possibly a defect/weakness of the design.

I'd like to add a note about the ink cartridges when using a refillable and/or un-brand... None that I ever tried were good enough for photo's, but documents, yes. Re-filling a cartridge yourself proved difficult and messy. Places like CartridgeWorld just could not get it right, saying that HP ink was their most challenging ink to replicate and that certainly showed true in the printed photo's, being as none came out anywhere near keepers (green and odd colors) and Office Depot HP refill brand is considerably better, but not vibrant and with somewhat of a dull appearance lacking depth and detail... So why bother using these inks for photo prints when you'll spend more for mistakes!

My experience with this printer is that it was indeed among the best of its day. Too bad for me that the cartridge holders didn't stay in place!

Summary: Crucial pieces broke off
Comment: I have had my 7550 printer for 3 years. After the 2 year point the black cartridge stopped working. Replacing it didn't work so I used it in "reserve mode" for a year (only using the other more expensive color cartridges). Today one of the color cartridges stopped working. I found a tiny black piece of plastic at the site, so I checked all three. Lo and behold, the little black pieces that hold the cartridges in place are missing from the two cartridge doors that are not working. I checked the third one and it is hanging by a thread. Three times a charm... sounds like a major design flaw.

Summary: Best Printer I ever owned
Comment: I love HP printers, but this one takes the top award. It prints photos, word documents, and whatever else you want it to with ULTRA high quality. The LCD just adds to the design. Ink can be expensive as this model holds ALL 3 (black and white, color and photo) all at once, unlike lower models. Its easier though, and well worth it! This is some printer.
