Summary: Small business workhorse - 1000's of trouble-free pages
Comment: This printer is the least expensive true enterprise level, network ready, black and white only laserjet. I find it a great value for my small business. Easy set-up, trouble free performance, reliability, durability. Low cost per page. We print about 5000 pages a month from our entire network to this printer. Set up is easy for persons familiar with network printers. Printer IP address will change when components of the network power-cycle or after a power outage, due to the router assigning new IP addresses. It may be possible to fix the printers IP, but it's not worth the trouble for me. The printer will print its IP address so you can re-configure the desktops to find it after a power outage.

Summary: Excellent printer for small business. Especially with the price drop
Comment: I got this printer about 5 yrs ago as our main office printer. At the time, it cost $1200 each. We print about 300 sheets a day. After 5+ yrs of abuse, it's still working like a charm, never did a tune up or repair on it. We don't even use factory cartidges, and it still works perfectly fine.
Now at $699, it's a great deal, got a 2nd one to split up the workload. Usage is about 1000 sheets a day, so splitting it up works perfectly.
The original cartridges are a bit expensive, at $180 each for the high yield. We been buying the refurbished ones on Amazon for around $70 each, works great, yield is about the same. Only bad thing is those typically would leak the black toner if you shake it when it's almost out, so make sure you DO NOT shake it, I learned the hard way.
When you get printers, trust HP, each one in the office has their own HP laser printers, from small $80 ones to these big ones, never once did any of these break. The only Non-HP we have is a color laserjet from Brother, that was on sale for $299 so I couldn't resist. But overall, cannot be more happy with HP laserjets.

Summary: business owner
Comment: My company has owned the 4200 model for several years with zero problems.
We've only had the new model for one month and have had no problems so far. We are still using the old model in another capacity. These are great business printers.

Summary: very nice
Comment: This is very similar to the hundreds of 4200dtn's that are scattered all over my workplace. They are very fast machines, and this one is essentially just as fast. Print jobs start almost instantaneously, and print very quickly. (An occasional website will require a bit more time to print, but very unusual.) This is very Mac compatible, and seems to be more "it just works" on the Mac than with the PCs at work. (My workplace is mostly PCs with some Suns.)
Besides the speed, what motivated me to retire my many years old LaserWriter (AppleTalk, pre-ethernet) is the availabilty of the duplex unit (available separately and at extra cost unfortunately) to automatically produce 2-sided printing (again very speedy). Worth the extra cost... (with the price break amazon was giving approx one month ago, almost a freebie considering current pricing).
Can't vouch for the Postscript emulator one way or the other at this point...
