Epson Stylus Photo 780 Inkjet Printer Reviews

Summary: Not much better than a standard printer...
Comment: Ive owned the Epson 780 for several years now. I purchased it when they first came out & it was supposed to be the marvel of printing machines. However, it has been something of a disappointment.
I used it to print photos with sketchy results at best. It has been an OK printer for the occasional map or for text printing but not much more.
Honestly, I was just as happy with the CANON printer I got for free from Gateway when I bought a computer from them.
The Epson 780 uses too much ink & their ink at the time was/is still too expensive for general printing. I use inexpensive generic ink with it now. It is noisy, slow & I have to hold the paper to make sure its lined up correctly, although I cant find any reason why.
I also find it annoying that unlike the simple CANON, it dosent have an auto off switch. So if you forget to turn it off or just dont want to because it takes forever for it to noisily reset itself, it just stays on.
I was disappointed that EPSON put out this sub par machine. I had heard they were great machines & maybe some are. But this one...

Summary: Good Price
Comment: This printer is very well priced for the Brand and Quality. The ink is cheap and ample. You can create great photos with a little patience. It is light, fairly quiet and takes little space. Easy to maintain and repair. A++

Summary: Junk
Comment: Dont waste your money. This is the last epson I will ever buy. Uses too much ink, always clogs and is a moody piece of junk. I will be buying a cannon next. After owning four epsons in six years I have had enough! The scanner I bought was also an epson. It is a piece of crap too.

Summary: If you don't mind clogs ...
Comment: This printer is capable of providing high quality images and color graphics. But it is a tremendous ink waster and an annoyance. I have had it for about 2 years and have given up trying to print without first cleaning the heads, even if I use it every day. Cleaning the heads requires time and ink, making this inexpensive printer much more costly than it should be.

I used another Epson printer (the C60) which had the same clogging problem. I will never buy another Epson printer again, despite the print quality.

Summary: Decent...sometimes.
Comment: I've owned this printer for a while, and now I'm considering replacing it with a better printer, preferably multifunction. This printer created beautiful photo prints when it was new, but now it requires constant head cleanings and always prints with horizontal banding and never crisp text. If you're looking for a printer to print occasional photos and never require sharp text, get this printer. Otherwise, look elsewhere. I have a Sony 3.3MP camera, and I print those pictures directly from the memory stick using a dye-sublimation printer from Sony... absolutely stunning!
