Summary: Decent (expensive) image printing - When it prints
Comment: This printer is a complete ink hog. While I am not a fan of spending so much money on ink, my major complaint about this aspect, is that for such a thirsty printer, it uses extremely small ink cartridges. This means having to change them entirely too often, and doing your best to keep spares around.
The other annoyance is the paper handling. It regularly says that there is no paper, even though there is plenty of paper sitting there, sometimes I am forced to mess with the paper and press okay for each and every sheet. Occasionally it sucks in two pages. Sometimes it doesn't suck in a page, but proceeds to "print" anyway, which is extra frustrating considering what an ink hog it is. All of this is with approved paper, and the correct paper type selected in the properties.
However, when it has ink and feeds the paper correctly, it does make nice looking prints.
It definitely has not been worth the money, time and hassle cost overall, and I wish I had chosen a different printer.

Summary: Beware Problems after a year and half
Comment: I bought this printer 12/2006 based on the above reviews. I've loved the printer up until this week. Now the paper simply won't feed properly and jams. Canon's help site says for this problem clean the roller. I've done that many times now to no avail. Their next advice is take it to a dealer. Well since there isn't a dealer for hundreds of miles from me that's a silly option for me.
Due to the fact that I have new print cartridges in the printer and some to spare, I'll probably buy another used one to see me through the ink. I'm disappointed and can't bare the thought of starting to review printers again.

Summary: Beware
Comment: Ink tank detection started giving incorrect messages 6 months after purchase with "Ink tank is empty." No ink tanks were empty. But there was a way to override and still print. Now the message is the U071-"More than one ink tank of the following is installed Cyan 8." Only one Cyan 8 is installed, and there is no way to override this message to be able to print. Technical support could only suggest replacing Cyan 8 or taking printer to a service center. Given the history of incorrect error messages, I am not investing any more money. I am trashing this printer after only 16 mos. Many customers seem to like this printer, but beware, you are playing Russian roulette if you buy this.

Summary: Excellent Printer
Comment: We formerly used Epson Stylus color inkjet printers in our graphic design offices for all computers and liked the speed, relative low cost cartridges and quality. However, after 4 years, they'd run their course and started to have problems. Researched printers and replaced all of ours (4) with the Canon 6700d. We do reports as well as artwork output and are very pleased with this product. Purchase prices on the printer have risen since this model has been discontinued (and apparently in demand), so suggest shopping around a little - used to be abundantly available for around $140 new.
