Summary: Decent Machine - Used in Restaurant...
Comment: I have used a 1270e in one of my restaurants for 2 1/2 years now, and it continues to chug through. We do not fax a lot, but we send copies of the menu to folks, and we receive faxed in orders, so they both need to be readable.
Yes, I dislike the old ribbon roll that it uses for ink, but they can be found cheaply enough, plus we usually flip the cardboard rolls around, cut the notches in the end so they will fit backwards (instead of trying to re-roll them), and reuse them, thus saving money.
This thing is in a greasy environment that puts it to a test (it sits by our chip fryer - we are a southwestern/mex grill) and gets totally covered in grease, but keeps right on printing.
Phone on it works ok for those times when we have to talk to someone that is dialing the fax by mistake. Has a few memory dial numbers in it which is nice.

Summary: Another fax with sending problems
Comment: I have only used this fax for about 2 months and it does a terrible job sending. I don't fax a lot, maybe 2-10 pages per day. It always jams and has trouble feeding my faxes through, irritating!!

Summary: What happened with the price?
Comment: I saw it on sale for $53.39, next day the price went up. I told my friend about the price, he gave me a check for me to go ahead and buy the item since he does not have a computer. When I came home to purchase it, the price was WAY UP to $89 ??? What's up with that~!???

Summary: ruin the reputation of "made in japan" label
Comment: Mine was working fine until I had to replace the carbon film the first time. Then the 1-year old unit simply quitted working. Normally I am quite good at figuring out mechanical problems by myself. Not this one.
Then I found out there are unlimited supply of Remanufactured Brother 1270E fax machines. How could so many units need to be repaired?
I am a non-Japanese Asian who likes Japanese quality stuff. This model ruins my confidence in Japanese product.

Comment: Works well with separate answering machine. Makes copies well. Did not come with four-color introductory stickers on the outside to help identify parts and features. Initial print cartridge lasting well. Pleased with purchase.
