Summary: Almost Outstanding, But in the End Disappointing!
Comment: This machine, the UX355L, sends and receives fax transmissions
with excellent clarity and reliability. I have had no problem
with the paper feeder, although some of the other reviewers have indicated difficulties. The machine is compact and very attractive to look at. However, my complaint is that the image film and cartridge are very difficult to replace. As a result of considerable frustration, I jammed the plastic holding cartridge and have been trying to purchase a replacement--without success.

Comment: Theres so much electronics out there that is so complicated to use and set up that its not worth the hassle to bother to have in life. But I needed a fax machine for the home office.
So I went to my local Staples store and got the sales pitch. They recommended this model for its ease of use, simplicity and most bang for the buck. The machine was connected on its own phone line so I dont know how it would be if it had to share a phone line and answering machine. According to the manual it gets a little more complicated but it should be OK. Theres lots of other models out there with plenty of bells and whistles that are superfluous, unneeded and just get in the way. Amazon's price was $10 more + shipping; so I went local on this first one. Setting up this machine was easy: just follow the manual. The imagaging film roll installation drawings are unclear but you can work it out with a bit of persistence. As noted in the previous review, the paper can be fed crooked in the machine. I did not find this to be a big problem. Just make sure that the paper stack is well squared off. When youre sending faxes make sure the width adjustement is sized to the paper.
Bought another machine for a friend thru Amazon and she had no problem getting it working. I was ready to get a third one for my daughter but Amazon is out of stock. Maybe the word is out.
