Summary: A little beauty!!
Comment: We are very pleased with this machine. It packs a whole lot into a small package. The phone sounds good - no tin can effect or hissing or popping. We still need to fiddle with some of the controls to improve the print quality of the fax and copies (we have not got that far yet) and some directions in the book are not any help at all - but overall, for a home or small office setting this is a gem.

Summary: The Ginsu knife of telephonic devices.
Comment: Does everything. Fax, answering machine, basic copy abilities (isn't that nice), programs numbers, and to wrap it all up and make it better than all other competitors it actually has a cordless handset. Word of advice, don't forget to get the ink cartridge refill because I have a feeling it runs out fairly quickly. And the biggest problem with this machine is the tome of complicated instructions. Yes, you can figure them out, but there are definitely frustrations involved, as in you'll always find the answering machine function pages when you're looking for the copy function pages. And there are a few too many answering machine functions that are not explained. (You can have a 'tel/fax' function or a 'tad/fax' function, but please don't ask me why or what they are, and you have to set your message to the appropriate function.) But a little patience, and the benefits are worth it.

Summary: Plastic Cover Latch Breaks
Comment: I purchased this fax because I had confidence in Panasonic products. The unit was guaranteed for 6 mos. One week after it was out of warranty, the molded plastic latch that holds the cover of the unit down broke off from the body of the unit due to continuous fibration stresses, and the machine would not work thereafter. This is a manufacturing defect in this product. Panasonic refused to replace the unit.

Summary: Do NOT Waste your Money
Comment: I bought this machine and have had it for about 4 months. It has never worked. I keep getting a "memory full" message thus it refuses to receive a fax or take a message with the answering machine... Plus it uses a ribbon cartridge for printing which is just awful to use. The menus are hard to interpret book, while thick is poorly written and hard to sort through.

Summary: Overall a Great Plain Paper Fax/Cordless phone
Comment: I have a home based business and found this machine to be useful, compact and attractive (well as far as fax machines go).
I use this fax machine mostly for a;
- Fax
- Cordless phone
- Copier
- Digital answering machine
Pro's
-----
It has a lot of great features and capabilities;
- rolls calls to voice, voicemail or fax automatically (this allows for using one phone line, instead of having to add a designated fax line).
- nice remote features like fax forwarding and voice mail access.
- plain paper faxing and B&W copying
- decent cordless handset and speaker phone function, with a headset plugin.
Con's
-----
There is not alot to dislike about this machine but drawbacks I do see are;
- During a voice call the handset sometimes goes mute, this seems to be either because it is changing frequency channels -OR- the auto fax pickup feature is trying set the machine to fax reception while you are talking (this can be a bit of a hassle during a conversation, though it usually clears up after "a bit")
*Note: If you set the fax to manual pickup this might clear up the problem but then again I bought this machine to pickup voicemail and faxes in my absence.
- Fax/Copier refills are more expensive than other brands, if you will recieve a lot of faxes (I do not), this could get rather expensive.
Overall, this is a pretty good solution for those folks wanting a fax/B&W Copier/wireless handset/voicemail solution.
However, if you also need a color copying/printing & scanning capability, a multifunction machine is probably a better value/solution.
