Summary: Opteka HD2
Comment: This does not work easily with a Canon Zoom lenses. The front element of the zoom moves in and out when you zoom and the attached Opteka jams the lens. No harm is done if you go carefully but it is best to watch what you are doing when you zoom to maximize the picture. In addition the housing for the slide tends to slide up and down because the spring tension is so light on the slide holder. Otherwise it works OK

Summary: Works best with Kit Lens, or a lens range of 18mm to 70mm
Comment: It does take quite practice to make sharp enough captures of old slides... but what can you expect from old slides... It's flexible enough though to mount 4:3 or full frame square slides. You can use a prime, like a 50 - 60mm, but you can't take a full frame capture with that, so a good wide to medium zoom lens is needed. The device itself is rear mounted at 58mm, so that leave you will quite a few lenses to choose from...

Summary: The ability to shot in RAW makes it well worth the price.
Comment: I have purchased 2 scanners labeled as "photo scanners" both with slide attachments both over $300.00. The HP produced poor results, the Canon was acceptable but you had little control over the scan. Being able to shot the slide in RAW gives us an incredible amount of flexibility!

We now use this device for all of our slide "scans". The initial mage is not better than the Canon but the ease of manipulation and repair is pretty impressive. RAW is just easier to work with than a JPEG....

Highly recommend to those who want to rescue their old slides. On a digital camera with the ability to shot in RAW you will get MUCH better end results than a typical "photo scanner".

Summary: Great Product
Comment: i scan many 35mm slides at my work. last year we purchased a semi-highend slide scanner by Nikon for around $1,000. i have found that the pictures of the slides that the Opteka HD² Slide Copier takes are far superior in sharpness and color then our slide scanner.

the Opteka HD² Slide Copier for Canon EOS Digital SLR Cameras was easy to use with my Canon EOS 30D and 20D, and i had no problems with the cropping out of certain parts of the slides as another review says.

i highly recommend this as a cheap, fast way to scan your slides.

Summary: Very easy to use, works great.
Comment: I had no proublems using this slide copier. It attached onto my lens with the included 58mm ring. All I did was put a slide into the holder, pointed the end at a light, focused, and pressed the shutter. Nothing else to it.
