Summary: After gettting it to work it is fantastic
Comment: I put the CD in and it then tells you to be sure you have power and then plug in USB to computer. I reached for the power plug that I had attached to printer and thought, what is this, it needs an adaptor. I reached in the box and found the other end of it. Never had one of these before. The installation said was success. I put the ink in and letter paper. I tried to print and nothing happened. I went through the process again and updating everything. It dawned on me maybe if I put in the photo paper. That was it and it printed a sample page on the letter paper. I then printed a photo from the computer and it is beautiful. I don't really think it was so huge but after reading another person's comment when Fedex pulled up in a furniture delivery type of truck and was backing up in my drive I thought oh gosh what have I done. Then he brings it to the door and it was just like most any other accessory like a scanner or my printer that wouldn't work anymore. I got it from HP as the price was cheaper and I ordered it one night and got it the next morning.

Summary: So far, great!
Comment: My P1000 was in need of replacement and after reading various reviews I chose this one. Though I've not had it very long, what I have experienced so far has been great. Great color, easy to use, was easy to install. Price was right! I'm very happy with my purchase so far.

Summary: Poor installation
Comment: I have used computers for 20 years, so I did not expect any problems installing and using a new printer.
I bought the D7360, brought it home, installed it, printed a few pages including three photographs, unplugged it, packed it up, uninstalled the software, and returned the printer to the store. All within 24 hours.
You may have great results, but my experience started out bad when installation of the software took a lot of time. I followed the instruction sheet as closely as I could, except that the written instructions did not match perfectly with what actually took place. Nothing seemed to go wrong, it just took forever.
The first problem was that I made the mistake of accepting the recommended software load. It loaded a bunch of stuff on my computer that I didn't need since I have Photoshop Elements. I would recommend the custom setup if you want to limit what it loads.
When I attempted to print a photo from within Photoshop Elements 5 on 4x6 paper, it would not let me do it. The dialogue let me select the 4x6 paper. It even showed the 4x6 size at the bottom of the preview. But it printed to the letter size tray. When I returned to the print dialogue, it had reset to the letter tray.
I was able to print to the 4x6 tray from within the HP provided software, but the driver as it installed on my computer did not support printing to the 4x6 tray from within Photoshop Elements 5.
It could have just been a failed installation, but I had been at it three hours by the time I gave up. I decided that my time was worth too much to mess with it any longer.
The photos that I printed on the HP Advanced paper looked very nice. However, looking really closely there were fine lines in both directions that almost looked like very thin cracks in the surface. Not noticable from a foot away, but it wasn't a completely glossy finish.
One last thing. If you have a cat, this thing will attract hair like a magnet. It is light colored and my black cat walked to close to it. The black hair was really obvious on the light colored plastic.
At least the store took it back and returned my money without a lot of hassle. They didn't have my next choice, so I came home and ordered a different printer on line.

Summary: Nice Upgrade from an HP 895Cse
Comment: My veteran CSE is beginning to show its age with some feeding problems, and we wanted better photocapability. The 895 did not have the maximum flexibility for photos, and the color, while good, was not up to today;s standards, and slow. After doing some research, settled on the D7360 as a replacement, and am not disappointed. Color photos are great! And compared to the 895, super fast, but still not quite as fast as the advertized. I time things from hitting return to print in the output tray, and it is a bit longer than the advertized, but way faster than the 895, and certainly well within my needs and expectations. Now if it only had butil in networking!
Yes, it does a bit of rattle and clank as it fires up, but no it is not all that noisy, although it takes a while. The installation on a 1MB machine running XP Professional went without a hitch. It does install itself as the default printer, but if that is not desired, it is easy ot change in the control panel. If you do not have sophisticated needs to go from digital camera to print, you do not need the computer at all. The relatively large touch screen LCD and internal software do a good job of simple snapshot improvement.
Considering it cost about a third of the cost of the 895 when new new, and the output is better in terms of speed and quality, its a pretty good deal. Of course, the 895 was really intended for a small home office, and has given yeoman's service going through an incredible amount of paper (I buy boxes of 10 or so reams, two a year)and handles envelopes and cards without removal of the standard paper. It is still my default printer as it does text just dany and acceptable fast. Remains to be seen if this colorful wonder - the D7360 - will have the durability of the 895, and I am curious (and a little fearful) how often I am going to buy ink.

Summary: Don't Believe The Negative Hype - Outstanding machine.
Comment: First things first - if you are a hobbyist photographer - get this printer. Now.
With that out of the way my opinions on this machine:
The negative reviews of this machine are funny; its as if they bought a basketball, and was stunned to learn it didn't make for very good tennis balls - sure its round, and can be hit - just not very far. If your main concern is hitting tennis balls, buy tennis balls.
The Photosmart D7360, despite its capability, is a high-end consumner PHOTO printer. Can it do text pages, sure. But that's not the reason to buy the machine, and obviously not what it was designed to excel in. If you need a B&W text printer to handle your high volume text-printing needs, get a laser-printer. This thing is designed to print photos - period. Anything else is a happy suppliment.
And boy does it print nice photos. I picked this up with a couple packets of 4X6, 5X7 and 8.5X11 paper, and the prints have been excellent. Are there better printers out there - of course. But you're going to pay a little bit more for them as well as the paper to print it on. However, if your goal is to print out excellent photos to be distributed to friends, family or collected in an album - this printer will get the job done everytime. I was initially skeptical on the ability of a sub 100 machine (because that's the price you can get it for lately) being able to give print-shop style prints, but that was laid to rest with my first test: sharp blues in the sky, and nice soft warm tones in the skin. My machine was delivered at work, and we were all absolutely impressed with how quick the machine spit out seemingly complex photographs in seconds. Proofs/drafts are also quick, w/o using lots of ink, but still producing photos that are of good enough quality to see what you'll be getting on actual photo paper.
As for the negatives:
Long load times: If you haven't used the machine in perhaps days, and have it shut off, then yes - it is going to take perhaps over a minute to boot up because its dumped its memory cache. However shutting it off, and picking it back up a few hours later is not going to result in the (in my opinion) over-exaggerated load times. Or just dont shut it off; its not going to be draining dollars while in power-save mode (similar to your computer).
Installation: With updated Service Pack, Windows installed the printer in less than a minute. No driver conflicts, and the printer was ready for use after that.
The Software: The software is 100% not needed to use this printer, and I would suggest getting Picassa (a free software by Google) to use for picture management. Still install the driver support obviously so that you can adjust page-setup - but when it prompts to install the (overbloated - 350MB) software, simply hit cancel and finish the rest of the setup. The software should be a non-issue since there will always be better software than the default that comes with any machine.
Photo Paper: The machine will print to ANY photo paper so long as the dimensions are correct. Any suggestion that only HP paper can be used is erroneous (but then HP is pretty good quality and cheap).
No USB cord: Indeed a negative. Not so much for me since I had one laying around, but I can see how this would be a problem. Be sure to order one when you pick this up.
All in all I would effortlessly recommend this printer for someone looking for a photo print option. Do not buy it as an all-in-one, multi-purpose machine, because you will be disappointed and their are cheaper options for this. Buy it so that you can have a dedicated photo printer and not have to head to the lab everytime you want prints of your photographs.
