Summary: DON'T GET THIS EVEN FOR FREE
Comment: I had this printer for past 9 months. From day 1, it was trouble!!!
The paper jams or will never pick up the paper from the tray to the feeder. I waiting to get a good deal on a diffreret brand of printer like Samsung or somting else... and wondering whether it is worth to donate this one to the Salvation Army, as I don't want some else to go through the pain I am going through.....
What a PIECE OF JUNCK from HP!!! NEVER BUY A HP AGAIN ///

Summary: DON'T BUY THIS PRINTER
Comment: Can you rate something less than "1"? I bought this printer directly from HP and paid about $250. I have had it for several years. It is absolutely the worse printer I have ever owned. The paper feeder is CONSTANTLY jammed. In reading other reviews on HP printers, I find that many people have had similar problems. Check out Canon products. They tend to be much more reliable.

Summary: Now I remember why I don't buy HP.
Comment: The 8250 is a wonderful printer when compared to a DeskJet 500c, or perhaps an old dot matrix printer. Unfortunately by today's standards, the 8250 just doesn't hold up. Color matching is impossible with this. After several attempts at calibration the best I could get this printer to do was marginal compared to a two year old epson that cost half the price. I'm willing to say that perhaps the color matching problems are due to the fact that I'm running a Mac, but the problems don't stop there.
Solid black areas will display the gaps between passes of the print head, a problem I haven't seen since the DeskJet 550c. Multiple attempts at print head alignment could not solve this problem, and since print head alignment is an "automatic" process, it is pretty much a crap shoot.
Additionally the print rollers will mar your photo, huge streaks down the middle of a picture where the ink smudges thanks to the rollers.
Paper jams seem to be the norm for this Every other job jammed for the short time I had this.
To summate, this printer aspires to be [...], and falls short.

Summary: Excellen Printer
Comment: A VERY good printer. I use it for photos. It is very fast and ink won't break your bank. Get a lot of pictures from ink and ink vERY resonable from HP web site. I get the full 6 inks and 150 photo papers for $36 - I buy 2 and save $10. This is a very good printer, very resonable and give excellent prints. HP got a winner here.

Summary: Separate loading trays for photo paper and plain paper
Comment: I bought this printer because of a favorable review from Consumer Reports and because it is supposed to have a low cost per page/print. I discovered recently that there is an input tray dedicated to photo paper. I like that.
This printer is well thought out. The only thing I would change about it is to add automatic on/off functionality.
