Summary: Works for me.
Comment: This printer does all it's supposed to. The paper feeder tray is a little finicky, but if you are gentle with it, no problems. Great little machine for the price. Oh, and it IS fast!

Summary: Good printer, bad scanner - BEWARE
Comment: I purchased this all in one unit in order to scan slides and negatives as well as print. The results of scanning slides is AWFUL. Grainy, blurry, low quality and absolutely horrible. I'd get better result projecting them on a screen and taking a snapshot with my digital camera.

If you buy this model because of its scanning adapter for slides, you are wasting your money!

Summary: Print and copy quality very good, but...
Comment: I have owned this printer since August 06, and bought it reluctantly because of the problems described here, but I need a front paper loader and I have had very good luck with HP in the past. So I compromised and bought Staples' extended warantee, which I normally never do. So now, January 07, when I got the "out of paper" message with the tray full, I thought 'uh-oh, here's the problem everyone was complaining about.' However, it turned out that there was a paper jam. Removing the back panel, and carefully removing the paper stuck inside seems to have cleared the problem (with my fingers crossed).

Other things I don't like are that the startup time to print one page seems extraordinarily long, and it goes into 'maintainence mode' much more often than I would expect (although I could give it that one if it kept it trouble free). I also had trouble printing my Christmas address labels, which printed fine on my old HP, but I ruined one page of labels because it printed low on the page. I had to manually cut 1/4" off the top of the label pages to get it positioned correctly. It also 'notches' the top of the paper occasionally.

So even though the quality of prints, copies, and scans is very good, I would think twice before buying this again (although if it were still the best looking front loader around, I might go with it).

Summary: I hate this thing
Comment: I bought this printer with high hopes- I cant stand it. YOU MUST KNOW WHEN IT RUNS OUT OF INK, IT GIVES NO WARNING, AND SIMPLY GIVES YOU NO CHOICE BUT TO CANCEL THE PRINT JOB. THIS CREATURE OF A PRINTER WILL THEN CEASE ALL PRINTING FUNCTION UNTIL YOU REPLACE THE CARTRIDGE!! NOT GOOD IF YOU ARE CRAMMING OR IN A RUSH!!!!!!!!!!I do not find the quality of printed documents good, I had a lexmark Z31 lazer printer(under $100 at the time) that yeilded a much better quality print. I installed my printer with the disk provided, however when you attempt to use any features (such as help, scan to desktop etc.) it will tell you there is no program installed! So great! I need to purchase additional software for this printer for the use of the functions??? I feel this machine is worth no more than $55.00. P.S.- the paper tray is very small, you cannot use postcards or index cards, they get jammed. Any loose plastic parts are flimsy, mine fell off within the first 2 weeks (front tray for example). On the positive side, it will scan a picture from a book and make a decent copy, BUT DONT EVEN TRY TO EDIT!!! Dont waste your money!!!!
