Summary: Epson is NOT for Mac users at ALL!
Comment: I have used Epson products for the last several years. I started experiencing issues with Epson around the time that Mac OSX came out. I am a graphic designer and have always liked the quality of the Epson prints. BUT this printer has caused nothing but issues.

The paper feed is highly temperamental, and I waste so much time dealing with the paper feed. If you are planning on ONLY using standard laser paper, not cover weight or photo paper, you may find this is fine. I am planning on switching to HP from now on.

I also find that my Epson scanner does NOT work at all with my Intel Mac, and several emails to customer service have never been answered except with the automated..."do Not reply" that someone will answer my question soon.

Their customer service has become non existent.

If you feel you want to risk never upgrading you computer or having any issues that need Epson Customer service, then this is a good buy. I am done forver with Epson....oh, and probably okay for PC users, too! Just not for a Mac running 10.4.X

Summary: This printer is incredible!
Comment: I have been a loyal Epson wide-format photoprinter user for about 6-7 years. When my last printer gave up the ghost, I was in the market for a new one for my photography business. I chose this printer, even though an Epson rep that I encountered at a local big box-type store tried to sway me from it to a newer, but less comprehensive model. When the printer arrived, I tried 2 photos out on it. This was nothing short of amazing. I had one from my old printer to compare the first one to, and the difference, using the gloss optimizer toner function was complelely obvioius. This is a photo of an archway at a Scottish castle. There is a depth of field that shows up from the new printer that was only hinted at by the older model. I then tried another photo scanned from a black/white photo of the dog we owned when I was a child. I used the gloss function at the lower level. While it was noticible, for a truely important photo with depth of field needs, by all means, use the high function. You will see the difference. The colors, even with regular printing, stand out, printing on a DVD or CD are impressive and the accompanying software for this function is user-friendly. For the photographer who needs an outstanding level of output without spending over $1000, this is the one. Epson has done it again!

Summary: rip off
Comment: if you are going to print a few large pictures every now and then and that is it, then maybe this printer is for you. but if you are a normal person who likes to print off several photos as well as e-mails, internet documents and other normal stuff, then this printer is a nightmare. it is constantly constantly constantly running out of one of its eight color cartridges and then it won't even let you print in black! it is expensive to keep all of that ink around! then half the time it prints your picture poorly, so you have to print it again and, well, there goes your ink. i am so angry i purchased this thing. it is huge and incompetent. i hate it. i recommend you get a normal small reliable printer and then send away for your prints.

Summary: with a mac
Comment: I have not had the printer long enough to give it a 5 but wanted to leave this review for any Mac users. Some other Mac users give a low review and there is some problems using this printer with Leopard and Intel based G5s. I hooked it up to a G5 non-Intel power Mac using Leopard and have had no problems. The driver that came with the printer was fine. Epson's web site has a new driver for Intel based Macs running leopard, but you won't need it if you have a non-Intel power mac running Leopard.
