Summary: fast processing
Comment: I have the canon mp610 and a kodak 5300. The canon is much faster in processing the information than the Kodak is and after printing the same picture on each of the machines the results were mixed. I liked the Kodak as i thought it did a better job on skin tones while my wife preferred the Canon as the blacks were darker. Go figure. Both did a good job but the Kodak is very much slower in processing the information and printing the picture once you hit the print key. I understand that Kodak has a new replacement for this machine and the problems have been eliminated. All in all, the ink costs are favorable and once the bugs are eliminated the pictures are as good as professional. It is still a gamble. Oh, forget customer service. You end up speaking someone named Walter in India and it is nearly impossible to understand them. I ended up telling them how to print a picture without a border. that is a frustrating experience

Summary: Poor quality photos
Comment: The pictures came out dull, lifeless, grainy, and hazy. Wasted over a dozen 4X6 sheets and hours of work trying different settings. Tried both the included software and the Mac-resident print utility. Neither produced acceptable pictures. Tried adjusting the color saturation level, paper type, and hue with no avail. Interestingly, the photos, when viewed in preview, are noticeably duller than the original on the screen, so something is happening during the translation. I had two HP's that produced excellent pictures but one kept jamming and the other had a print head that refused to fire despite a new cartridge. I was hopping for a better result with Cannon. I am returning this unit and continuing my search.

Summary: Great product could be more user friendly
Comment: Great quality printer and scanner. The user functions are a bit confusing. After a paper jam using 2-sided printing, I had to call customer service to reset using a cumbersome process. Having said that, I would buy it again.

Summary: love it
Comment: We love this printer. You can't go wrong, especially now that it's selling for well under $100. We haven't had any problems and are happy with the quality and flexibility of the functions.

Summary: Excellent value on a brand-new printer
Comment: This printer is a professional-quality printer from Canon that is in many ways superior to the newer printers designed to replace it. For instance, All the ink cartridges for this model hold more ink than the corresponding cartridges in the newer models, and the print quality is just as good...outstanding, actually. Plus, ink refill kits/chip resetters are available for this model (not yet for the newer ones), thus providing a very inexpensive long-term ink solution. PLUS the brand-new replacement ink cartridges themselves cost much less than do the smaller cartridges required for the newer models.

The newer models DO have the wireless connection that this one lacks, which would be very convenient in a multi-computer office with WAN...but not a requirement, by any means.

All in all, this is a great printer/copier combination.
