Summary: Great photo printer for 8x10 or less
Comment: Unless you're willing to spend 350-400+ for a wide format photo printer (13x19 or greater..i9900 or others coming out soon), this one will do the trick for 8x10 or less. LCD viewer in middle will also serve as a cardreader for your pictures and send them to your PC.
Yes, ink will cost you some when you run out, but it's an inkjet. Which printer doesn't run out of ink? At least it's 6 tanks which separately don't cost that much.
As for paper, canon typically does cost more, but the Ilford brand found at SamsClub prints great especially on canon printers which is all i've used in the past 12 years after giving up on HP inkjets. Haven't used other papers besides kodak brand which were awful.

Summary: Great printer...does more stuff than youc an imagine
Comment: This printer is great. Better than most of the Epsons I tried. It's built very well, too.
Also there is a way to enable DVD printing...use your imagination (ie google :) )

Summary: High quality photo printer
Comment: I bought this printer to print 8*10 photograph in a temporary photo booth set up at a recent local festival. I used with a 4 MP camera and a notebook. I must have printed more than 110 photos over a two day period.
The photograps were stunning, to say the least. Every time someone looked at the printer in operation, they would give it an approving nod. The facial detail, and the texture of the clothes the subjects were wearing came out clearly. The color saturation and tone was great. The photographs were true to life. The Photo Magenta and Photo Cyan inks provided superb subtelties to the photograph.
Replacing individual ink tanks was easy. The indicators tell you how much ink is left in each cartridge.
The typical printer functions have been mentioned by other reviewers and I am happy with everything the printer has to offer.

Summary: Photo Printing
Comment: Printing photos that you've taken and tweaked yourself has always been scads of fun.
That is until you need more INK ! To me that is the biggest drawback, the second is photo paper. Although paper prices are more reasonable these days they could/should be lower. Back to the ink; I recently needed ink for my HP Photosmart printer.
Well guess what !!! I discovered that by shopping around, I could get a new printer (with the ink) for about what the ink alone would cost about $75 (Expensive) for a Color and a B&W cartridge. Go figure.....
So, anyway I opted to replace the HP with a Canon PIXMA iP6600D, $135.95 with free shipping from Amazon. My photos are crisper and sharper and it prints a whole lot faster than the HP. Among it's many, many features one of my favorites is being able to load two different types of paper. One type in the feeder the other in it's tray. Right now I have standard printer paper in the feeder and 4X6 photo paper in the tray. I can switch which one prints with the push of a button. It also features two sided printing. Thought I forgot about the ink ? This printer has 6 separate ink tanks. So, If I run out of one color, I don't have to change the complete color cartridge (all the colors). I just replace that one color tank for about $10 or $12. Another bonus is that I get more prints per tank than the HP.
Setup is a snap, whether you're using a windows PC or an Apple Mac. The quick start guide is clear and concise. There is only one thing that I can fault Canon for; Not the printer, it's that they don't include a USB cable. I used the one from the HP. So, if you should buy this printer, also buy a USB printer cable if you don't already have one. This is a excellent printer with lots and lots of features. It's well worth much more than I paid for it.

Summary: Canon PIXMA iP6600D Blasts Away the Competition
Comment: The PIXMA iP6600D photo printer is the quintessential printer. Your photos will impress and everybody will want to know what photo printer you have. This PIXMA model makes you a creative artist. I wouldn't want another brand other than a Canon. I own this printer and I was convinced upon receiving my first developed photo that Canon need not worry about the competition. If you want a photo printer that is going to make you #1 with photo enthusiasts, the PIXMA iP6600D is the only way to go.
