Summary: Driver and software incompatibilities?
Comment: Please Google "Print Queue problem iP5200." Exactly the same problem I experienced is described by some other unfortunate people. The problem is that after printing a job, it stays in Print Queue for several minutes, and the second job cannot be started immediately. Those who reported the problem on internet did not get any solution. Of course, they and I contacted Canon. Those who posted the problem on internet and I used the latest printer driver. I have Windows XP Home with all updates installed. The reviewers here didn't seem to have this serious problem. I don't know why a small number of people experience the problem. One person who reported the problem on internet reinstalled Windows system without solving the problem. I didn't go that far.
After exchanging several e-mails with Canon, it turned out that a source of the problem is that I was connecting iP5200 to an add-on PCI card. By connecting to a USB port originally installed on the PC, the print queue problem disappeared. But this is not the entire story. I have Canon ScanLide 30. Although the driver works, utility programs such as CanoScan Toolbox stopped working just after the print queue problem disappeared. Again, you can find problems reported on internet by searching "Scan Lide twain error message." I can still scan by using the scanning program that comes with Windows. However, I need to find the right brightness and contrast for myself. You can find solutions for the Twain problem on internet. However, I have not tried yet. I am afraid if I make ScanLide 30 work, the original print queue problem of iP5200 appears again and I will need to find a more fundamental solution.

Summary: Canon iP5200 Photo Printer
Comment: The printer is well made and functions well. Speed is good for both text and photos, even at high quality. My main complaint is that photos, especially poitraits, have a distinct reddish tint. It's difficult to remove the proper amount of cyan since the photos look perfect on the monitor. I've waisted way to much photo paper and still can't duplicate the image on the monitor. If anyone has an answer to this problem let me know please.

Summary: Canon PIXMA IP5200
Comment: I am an owner of the IP5200 and I spefically bought it for speed, color quality, and "Primarily" because I needed to refill the cartridges. We run a business and do a lot of color printing of brochures and newsletetrs. Sending them out was cost prohibitive. After I sent back an HP K550, because the ink was not refillable, and the cartridges were a small fortune, I set out to do some research.....I spent days and days and came up with the 5200. I have now refilled my cartridges with the "Proper" formulated ink, I buy on the web, and have done so many many times. I felt that paying over $[...] for a gallon of ink was not in my best interest. I buy my ink in 8 oz bottles for about $[...] each and I keep supplies for all 5 colors, but I use the same photo ink in both blacks....I buy the ink from "[...] and have been "extremely" happy with their product, and yes they have the ink for the CLI-8 cartridges. They supply EVERYTHNG you need to do the job! I am about to buy another 5200, to give to my daughter because she refuses to use her HP anymore, because a BW and 2 Color carts are now $[...] from Sam's Club...no less. In about 3 major uses, I can justify this printer for her in just the ink saving, which is about $[...] each refilling. I have it down to a science, and get no ink on my hands...and ink refill takes about 5 min per cart......The printer is very fast, great color for what we need, but have not done photo printing....

Summary: IP5200 is A Dog
Comment: We use about 12 IP5000 printers in our business - wonderful quality, good speed, etc. These have been upgrades from previous Canon and Epson - long ago HP printers. So We have some experience. The new IP5200 is a dog.
Only if you are printing only photographs should you use this color printer. Only on high quality settings - such as glossy - does it give a satisfactory image. For photos fine - but for other color printing - look elsewhere. We returned the IP5200 today. Don;t know what to do now! We loved Canon.
