Summary: Great Printer
Comment: It's a good looking printer. It's fast with great resolution on the prints. It has frequent paper james if you print more than 40 pages at a time. Suggestion: just print 20 to 25 at a time. Great for creating trasfers for T-Shirts, but if you have a design that you want to last for ages, just make two or three using this method and screen print the rest.

Summary: Eats up color ink
Comment: Most of the other reviews praise this printer, and for the most part, the reviews are correct. I like the great, borderless prints and duplex printing. However, I realized something most people just overlook.

I must give it 2 stars, because Canon did something shady: It uses the color ink cartridges whenever you print an image, ANY image, even in "grayscale" mode, and even a B&W photo. Over the course of three months, I have replaced all 3 color cartridges twice, and I have never replaced my black. In fact, the black is still 80% full (you can tell because the ink casing is clear). All 3 colors come out to about $30, while the black is closer to $12, so you can see why Canon designed all images to be printed with the color carts. The black seems to be only for text.

How did I discover this? I was out of the Magenta and Yellow carts, and had about 20% Cyan left, so I decided I would only print in grayscale until there was a sale on the other colors. However, two weeks later, the Cyan was gone! At first I thought the printer was designed to waste ink whenever it does its initialization. I got mad and took out all the color cartridges. I did some prints of websites with only the black cartridge installed, and I noticed the graphics were being printed in weird colors like yellow or pink instead of gray. After a while, there were no graphics printed. I went into photoshop, opened up an image, changed it to grayscale, chose to print in grayscale, and no image was printed. In other words, "grayscale" mode is not grayscale, and the printer is only useful if you keep buying the color cartridges (unless you only want to print text). It looks like the yellow and pink were leftover ink on the printhead.

I'd recommend getting a printer with a dedicated "photo black" cartridge. That way, you only have to replace one color only. Or if you can't pass up a deal on this printer, get this for color prints only, and then get a laser printer (or less shady inkjet if you know one) to do the grayscale prints.

Summary: A STEAL for the price!
Comment: I've had this printer now for about 4 months and I haven't had any problems with it at all.

The one thing that I found kindof weird about mine is that it gives me A LOT of prior notice that one of the ink tanks is running low.

Summary: Fantastic printer!!
Comment: I just bought a HP printer and read reviews on this one that same day. I took the HP back since the reviews were all positive for this PIXMA. I am SO glad I did. Easy to set up and install. The first picture I printed amazed me and my son. His reaction was WOW!!!! My reaction as well. I read a few reviews about how big this printer is but I tell you what...I love the way it looks. It's big but not fragile like so many others i've seen and used. Sleek, bold and beautiful. Two paper tray system is wonderful. Use the bottom tray for photo paper and feed tray for document printing. The color is so rich and the software is just as good. I will try with Paint Shop Pro to judge any differences but what I've seen.........AWESOME!! You can't beat the price, performance, individual ink cartridges and duplex printing. Canon wins again with me. I have a Canon scanner that works great too. Don't pass up this deal. My photos look better than the pics printed from the shop. Pictures from this PIXMA look better than my sisters 150.00 HP printer. You won't be disspointed!!!!
