Summary: 5 Stars for $50 BUT Only 3 Stars for $100
Comment: I bought this printer in the spring and paid $50. It's getting to be older technology and in my opinion not too good a deal once you go up to $75. That said, its fairly fast and quiet, ink is cheaper than MOST other ink jets. Although as a society we are getting near the point where it's just about cheaper to get a new printer than buy ink! The dual paper tray is really nice and not that complex. I keep my 4x6 photo stock down in the bottom and there is a manual botton on the printer or you can choose through the computer print setting. Quality is very good for a home system. Canon PIXMA is consistently highly rated by professional services (Consumers Report among others) So it's a nice printer for sure but in my opinion, $60 tops for the IP3000--now mind you there are newer and faster PIXMA printers now in this $100 range so compare--usually Amazon is very good on price but not always.

Summary: My complaint is with the highly questionable rebate offer
Comment: I ordered the Canon Pixma iP3000 printer several months ago. The reason I ordered it was because I was buying a Canon PowerShot A510 camera, and Canon was promising a $70 rebate on any PowerShot/Pixma purchase. I sent Canon the correct form and *every* item listed that was necessary in order to receive the rebate. I triple-checked the envelope to make sure I had included everything; I even had my husband check it.

A month or so later, I checked the status of the rebate online and learned that it had been declined. I e-mailed several times to ask why and received no response. I called the number that was listed; after repeated attempts, I finally reached a living human being. She was no more helpful than the automated system had been, telling me only that it appeared I had left out one of the receipts. I asked if I could send another copy of the receipt and was told that Canon discards materials for rejected rebates, so I would have to send copies of everything. I had not photocopied the bar codes from the camera and printer boxes--so they told me, in effect, that I was out of luck. I contacted the Better Business Bureau and learned that they have had many, many complaints about unfulfilled Canon rebates.

Summary: Great deal
Comment: It's fast, quiet, and reliable. I print school papers as well as photos from it. It doesn't match the professional printing quality, but it's great anyway. I'm networking this printer through a wireless router with a laptop and two pc's. Great deal! Ink is cheap (do stick with the authentics Canon cartridges, though. Had it for 7 months and so far had no problems.

I would recommend this item to anyone who is looking for a printer.

Summary: Pretty good printer
Comment: I bought this printer on recommendation from a friend that had an Epson and then switched to the ip3000. It is easy to set up and install the print drivers, and prints photos pretty well. I have not tried it with the recommended photo paper, but it does a good job with some Kodak semi-gloss paper I got from Target.

Only two issues. First, it is not real intuitive which paper tray you are supposed to use. There is a top feed which is most obvious, but also a paper tray feed through the bottom. I have that loaded, but haven't looked into how to get the printer to use that paper source.

Second, on my pictures I have a blurred background. Most of the time it does a decent job printing it. However for people, it prints a weird halo around them. Not too noticeable for 4x6 and 5x7s, but pretty bad for an 8x10.

I don't know how much ink will run me because this is still fairly new, but I hear it is not so bad.

Overall, I am pretty happy with the printer.

Summary: A great printer at a great price!
Comment: I purchased this printer to replace an ailing Canon S520. The output is excellent, and fast, especially on color photos. This printer boasts a paper tray that can be adjusted to accept print sized photo stock as well as plain letter sized paper. Of course, to get the best results with photos you must use specialty paper. Amazon had the best pricing and the delivery was quick.
