Summary: By Far The Best, The Most Reliable, The Most Cost Effective Printer I've Ever Had!
Comment: I have had about 6 printers before this one. This is the only printer I've had that is easily refilled, no hiccups, fuss, error messages. In addition, the printer has the quiet mode option, which significantly reduces printing noise -- comparable to laser printers. I am a student, and I use PowerPoint a lot; I use the alternative sheet feeder from the bottom, loaded with 4x6 index cards, to print lecture slides. Even more, with duplex on, I am further able to print two lecture slides back-to-back of the index paper. Wow!

In 3 years, I never had had to buy any additional ink cartridge.
The ink refill bought for only $32 at Costco has taken care of all my ink needs.

This product has paid for itself many times over.
Boy was I lucky to have stumbled onto this product.

Unfortunately, the news is up; currently the going price on eBay for this printer is around $200. That's ironic, considering that printers usually depreciate, not appreciate in price. [grin]

Summary: Excellent Printer
Comment: Great Prints - all kinds of paper. Printing on both sides is awesome! Ink cartridges are cheap to buy, it almost doesn't pay to re-fill - but I do anyway.

Summary: Great printer but getting expensive to buy on eBay
Comment: I bought one of these for my daughter's homework needs as well as for the CD printing ability. Delighted with the purchase. The US printers will not print to CD as default, you need to do a quick Google search to learn how to do it. Ink is cheap, especially if you refill yourself (maybe $0.50 a cartridge). Print quality is excellent. Outside plastic case looks like junk, but the inside is what counts, right?

I'm now trying to buy another one on eBay, but everyone is getting wise to the value of this printer. Many of them are now going for $200+ and that's a little rich for my blood.

So:

excellent print quality
CD printing
cheap ink
replaceable nozzles
duplexing

A great machine. I have to scratch my head when I read some of the negative reviews on this site...

Summary: Canon's dont last
Comment: This is the 3rd Canon printer I have bought in just over 3 years and it is the last time I will ever buy one. At just over one year of owning each printer, I had different problems with each one, too expensive to repair, so ended up just buying another. But after this one, I will never buy another Canon. They work well for about a year, but after that they quit running. I used to have high regards for Canon products and I always bought one because of the multiple inket refills but it is worthless to me if I have to buy another every year and just after the warranty runs out.

Summary: Don't Pay For This
Comment: I received this unit for free when I purchased my laptop. "Why would anybody give away a perfectly good printer," I thought. After using it I i quickly realized why the store couldn't wait to get rid of them. This unit is no good for the regular, digital picture enthusiast. Why? It utilizes CMYK. This means that all of your photos have to be converted and even then they won't hardly resemble the colors on your monitor. Only design nerds and professionals use CMYK and that's for printing jobs. As well, the lines per inch (lpi) is severely out of whack with my unit. I have to finagle everything I do in Photoshop to a great degree in order to avoid having vertical streaks on my prints.

Even if my unit has some strange quirks that others don't, I highly advise the regular user to stay away due to the CMYK cartridges (which are also more expensive than say HP's). 2 stars out of 5
