Summary: not to be used with cordless phones.
Comment: i liked the product alot except the fact you can't connect a phone to this product. Even though it has a throughput jack it is intended only to be connected to an answering machine, so don't buy this product if you intend to hook it up to another device like say a coordless phone. the device doesn't have an autosensing feature where if you pick up the phone it'll turn the fax off or anything like that.

in the end i had to return a pretty cool machine because i had to use it with a coordless phone. i wish canon would have a feature to disable/enable this type of useage.

i talked to a tech rep who said this is intended to be used as a handset unit since it has a phone handset with it.

Summary: Big, but dependable...
Comment: This L80 has been used in my insurance office for over a year and performs well. The cartridge died recently and I ordered a replacement from a vendor who neglected to advise me it was not in stock. While awaiting a delivery that wouldn't arrive, I saw that Amazon offered this model for under $90 and free 2 day prime shipping. I ordered my second L80, for home use. It did arrive in 2 days, with its own new ink/toner cartridge which I 'borrowed' for the office machine. This machine is easy to use. The toner and drum is one cartridge and is easily replaced. Copies and faxes are bright and clear. I read some negative reviews here and feel lucky my L80 is such a competent work horse. It's a big machine, but dependable.

Summary: bad on multiple pages
Comment: I own a small business and give mine a fairly heavy workout. The machine started and has always pulled multiple pages (I have tried diff paper types) when faxing. We have always needed to stay there and feed one page at a time, talk about a time killer for 20 page documents! After a year, it has started pulling multiple sheets from the feeder when printing. I guess I should get off a couple of dollars for a new one. I love Canon and this is the first bad product I have received from them but it is bad, real bad. I may stay with Canon but certainly not this product.

Summary: Hard-worker
Comment: I have 2 of these fax machines in my businesses. They are used as our main printer as well as a fax machine. I am very pleased with them. I have saved SO much money by switching to these laser-based fax machines compared with ink-jet faxes.

The print quality is excellent and the L80 is easy to assemble, configure, and use.

Summary: Worst Machine EVER!
Comment: I can't believe I have to use this P.O.S. every day at work. A coworker bought this a couple months ago and it feels like I'm using a first generation fax machine. First off, you have to babysit the thing and feed one page in at a time. It sucks several pages at once, every time like clockwork. I can't believe these piece of junk is new! Secondly, if you like picking up all your incoming faxes off the floor, this model's for you. Nothing, I repeat, nothing stays in the flimsy wire paper tray. What a lousy design all around. I wouldn't take this machine for free. Please don't buy it!
