Summary: Nice kit BUT not fit SD990IS, becareful!!
Comment: Nice kit with a leather camera case, extra battery, and a strip; however, the case in this kit does not really fit with the SD990IS. Be aware!! SD990IS prospects and owners.

Summary: Case flap barely closes over the camera
Comment: I got this case for my Canon powershot sd890 is so that I could carry the camera in my bag for use anytime. I was expecting the ease of use I get from a good phone case. Comparatively, the overall the functional design of this camera case is very mediocre.
Pros:It's solid construction and protects the camera. The magnetic close is nice. It has protected my camera while it jangles around at the bottom of my bag.
Cons: I end up spending more time that I like fiddling with the case. The case is slightly too short for a solid closure. The camera slides in very tightly and smoothly, but the flap won't cover the top and engage the magnet without pushing the camera in hard and tugging the flap over. The the flap usually reopens in my bag.
Also the hole for the strap is in an inconvenient place, I have to take the strap out of the hole to get the camera out of the case. I just let the strap flop to the side so I don't have to deal with that too.
Strap: the strap that comes with the camera is way more comfortable.

Summary: Battery is an essential, case is a fashion deal
Comment: The case unfortunately doesn't give camera full protection. It leaves the camera inside exposed in three places (top wrist strap cut, and two side cuts) wich is enaugh to get moisture or dust in. Unfortunately, besides the sleek size and leather material, there is not much benefits. IT IS ALL ABOUT STYLE. But for real protection I got a $7 Samsonite with a zip and also with a sleek pocket for your extra battery and memory card.
The battery is an essential if you plan to fill that 2GB+ memory card in one session. In best quality one battery lasts for under 2GB worth of pictures on my Canon 880IS, which is not much for a heavy traveller like me.
The two straps are a fashion deal of personal preference. One is to mach the leather case wrist strap. Other is neck chain in a plastic casing tube - fancy, but keeps your camera on your neck.

Summary: Best Slim Case Out
Comment: I'm not entirely sure why there are so many conflicting reviews of a camera case, but I'll try my hand at describing what I've received.
First, it should be noted that I have the SD990 IS. The case is a bit snug on this camera. I have to feed the camera's leash through the hole in the top of the case in order to have a chance at connecting the magnetic button closure. Even after feeding the leash through the top of the case, I have to press down a bit on the top of the case in order to have enough slack to button the flap. However, the camera is easy enough to get in and out of the case, and I do not feel like the camera is in danger of being damaged or scratched.
The case I received DOES NOT have a strong chemical smell. In fact, it smells like leather. The leather is relatively soft, but the case itself is rigid, which I think will only help to improve the protection of the camera, especially when packed in a backpack or bag.
The inside of the case is lined with a black felt-like material that is a little bit rough, but, once again, not something that will cause damage to the camera body or LCD screen. The bottom of the case on the inside is nicely cushioned, though I wish more of this cushioning had been used throughout the inside of the case.
If you're looking for a case that isn't bulky (can still fit in your pants pocket) that provides good protection for you Elph, then this is your best bet. However, I do agree with other reviewers regarding the odd metal strap, as well as the pointless leather strap that came with this kit. I would recommend either using the wrist strap that came with the Elph, or buying a longer, more comfortable strap to go around your neck.
I have yet to use my backup battery, but I assume it has good/great battery life just like the one that came with the camera.

Summary: Does not fit SD990IS
Comment: Ditto Jie and others: the camera case is too small for the new 990 model.
