Summary: Can't beat the genuine article
Comment: I have tried saving money by buying generic inks for my Canon i9900 printer. Believe me, in the long run those pennies saved just bought me aggravation. That's why I was so pleased to find this set of genuine Canon inks being sold by Amazon. I will never buy generic again, knowing that I can have the "real deal" for such a great price. No more colors that are off, no more clogged heads. Thanks Amazon!

Comment: I have used third party cartridges in the past and have had nothing but problems with them. I had to replace the print head twice in my i960 due to clogging and overheating of the electrical components. Since I have switched to using genuine Canon cartridges exclusively in my i960 and i9900 printers, I have had zero problems. Apparently, exact ink formulations are critical in these printers.

Summary: black ink deteriorates
Comment: The black ink gets a brown rusty finish almost immediately regardless of whether the print is under glass or not and in an office or in my home. I don't want to have to use a clear spray. I just ordered an off brand replacement to try their black.

Comment: The Canon Pixma iP8500 is one great printer (as I assume is the i9900). If you are serious about getting the best results for your photos and other color printing jobs from this printer, original Canon ink cartridges are the only way to go. I've tried compatible inks - albeit not for my Canon Pixma - and, while they're fine for plain black text, I have not been happy with the quality of color reproduction.
The price on Amazon is quite reasonable for the complete 8-pack replacement set, especially when you get it with free shipping. When I first saw it on Amazon, the description said it qualifies for free shipping, however after it was in my cart I saw that the product was being supplied by a third party, and there was a shipping charge, so I didn't order at that time. A couple of weeks later I went back and Amazon was the supplier, so the shipping was free. I then ordered it. Be sure to check that out before your final click.
