Panasonic KX-FPC165 Fax Machine with Cordless Phone Reviews
Customer Rating:

Summary: Poor Design
Comment: You cannot listen to messages and use the receiver at the same time. Picking up the reciever automatically disconnects anything the machine is doing. If the reciever is off the hook and runs out of juice, then the whole system (including the answering machine) will not work. The handset is also ill-designed as you cannot lean on it like a regular phone lest you immediately disconnect whomever you are speaking with. When sending faxes, machine sometimes grabs more than 1 page you are tying to send. Look carefully to ensure all pages were sent. Only 8 minute tape. I don't recommend.

Summary: Buy something else
Comment: After 8 months of use, the latch that secures the top down broke. Now If I receieve a fax I have to hold down the top and push manually. The recordings also do not come in clear and when I am on the cordless the buttons are so sensitive that my cheek hits the flash and hangs up on the caller. I manually feed the paper to send fax as well. Can't send multiple pages and film doesnt reproduce well on paper. Very aggrevating product.

Summary: buy something else
Comment: Fax works fine, like a fax. Cordless phone has suprisingly short range--not that big of a deal. The MAJOR drawback is the digital answering machine. ... . Recordings are difficult to make out. I can't tell you how many phone numbers I can't understand. Appreciated the efficient warranty replacement from panasonic. They replaced the whole unit for me. But, had the same damn problems. Spend a little more and get something reliable.

Summary: Don't waste your money
Comment: I experienced the same design flaw as Greg K mentioned. This machine was used for home office and received little use, none the less, it was never able to send more than 2-3 sheets at a time, and I always spent valuable time 'feeding' in the pages. Wish I'd given the money away to charity, now must spend again to replace this dud.

Summary: Don't waste your money
Comment: Fax worked fine during the 6 month warranty period, however shortly thereafter, the small plastic latch that locks the cover in place broke off for no apparent reason, rendering the fax unusable. This is an obvious design flaw, worthy of a recall, however, the manufacturer would not replace the machine. Now I have a [money] cordless phone.

Editorial Review for Panasonic KX-FPC165 Fax Machine with Cordless Phone:
More an all-in-one desktop center than simply a fax machine, the KX-FPC165 features a formidable array of included utilities. This fax machine is also copier, telephone, and answering machine, all loaded with features. The fax machine has an out-of-paper reception of up to 28 pages, which it stores in memory until more paper is loaded. Transmission time clocks in at around 9 seconds per page. You can also broadcast scans to multiple destinations, saving you valuable time.
The copy function supports making 50 copies at a time; it can also enlarge, reduce, and collate copies at your request. The 150-page paper tray is complemented by an automatic document feeder that handles 10 sheets at a time.
The KX-FPC165 comes with a digital duplex speakerphone, allowing hands-free phone conversations, making it ideal for home office and corporate boardroom. While many inexpensive speakerphones tend to clip and echo, the KX-FPC165 is well designed with relatively clear, natural sound quality. Conference calling is also easy, and a 900 MHz cordless handset lets users walk and talk at their leisure. The distinctive ring feature (enabled through your local phone service) gives incoming calls their own ring pattern, depending on the call's source.
The answering system stores up to 18 minutes of messages on one main and two personal mailboxes and even sends a pager message to notify users who are away from home or the office when they receive phone or fax messages. The phone directory is also worth noting for its simplicity. It can hold up to 50 numbers and has a convenient auto-dial feature, which works by simply selecting an entry and picking up the phone. No dialing is necessary.
Overall, this all-in-one machine boats a surprisingly large and useful suite of features, especially when one considers the more-than-reasonable price tag.
