Summary: Has surpassed my expectations
Comment: This printer is a basic, standard printer. It has a low price though, and if you don't need anything fancy, this will fit your needs very well. It is a sturdy little thing, 18.7-by-15.4-by-6-inch, has the standard sleek, gray, rounded exterior. The printer comes preassembled, and has an easy, quick-setup guide. The front-loading tray holds up to 100 sheets of 8.5x10-inch paper and brings them back onto the top of the slot; a small slider built into the tray prints up to 24 4x6-inch photos.
The 7150 has one USB port for connecting to your computer, located in the back. Another USB port is right below the Cancel, Resume, and Power buttons on the front, on the right-hand side and connects directly to any digital camera. You'll need to adjust your preprint photos on the camera's display, or use a photo editing software.
The ink prices have gone sky-high though. I've owned this printer for 8 years and it's NEVER given me a problem. I recently bought an Epson XR680, so the HP7150 has been retired. But it is a solid, reliable printer, I'm keeping it for the kids to use when they're old enough. I'm giving it 4 stars only because the ink prices are simply rediculous.
The driver CD includes a few basic, photo viewing/editing programs. HP Photo Printing software, for example, creates albums and helps with basic photo tweaking. HP Memories Disc Creator will serve those who have writable CD drives. And HP Imaging Director provides basic photo-tweaking features. I used these tools often.
The printer does print slowly however. If you're willing to wait, the quality is very good when printing photos.

Summary: Excellent printer, unless you're running VISTA
Comment: I have used this printer with a Presario XP computer. It has been flawless in photo printing, graphic output, and is a draft mode workhorse. I give it five stars for: durability, performance, and quality.
Now you should know: HP will NOT provide a VISTA printer driver. That means you CANNOT use this printer in VISTA. I have spent over one week attempting to use various HP print drivers to no avail. I have contacted HP. Their response: HP will not support this printer in VISTA - buy a new printer.
I'm taking their advice. I'm buying an EPSON.

Summary: I used to love this printer...
Comment: ...until I discovered it doesn't work with Vista.
Since every other printer I have (Samsung, Sony, Epson, Kodak) works fine in Vista (I'm in the photo biz and have a lot of printers!), I can only conclude that HP is doing something "nonstandard" in its driver and if it followed the rules for writing a printer driver it would have worked.
If you think you may run Vista, do NOT buy this printer.
HP's support web site gave me the run-around....it referred me to a page that did not include information for this device.

Summary: When it's dead, it's dead for good.
Comment: It is an OK printer while it is working. But when all three control lights start blinking (without any reasonable introduction), you should pretty much give up all your trouble shooting efforts. The "Help" section is worthless, just as the "Basics Guide" booklet. The bubble from the utility bar keeps referring to a craddle blockage that is simply not there...Would you wanna waste hours on the phone to get to technical assistance? The only reason I even remotely consider buying another HP printer, because now I am stuck with all the refill cartridges...

Summary: HP 7150
Comment: My HP 7150 prints nice photographs. The quality is very good, but I have had a lot of difficulty getting 4x6 sizes of paper to feed properly.
Also, business letters are important to me and I can't get envelopes to feed properly.
It has been frustrating not having availability of free customer service.
I will probably replace this unit with an Epson in the near future.
